Hi, friends! We’re so grateful to Kathleen for the opportunity to be here!
We’re Zack and Natalie Fisher and we live in Utah with our pup Max.
We met in January 2015 through a mutual friend while attending the same university. We started dating late that summer, got engaged that fall, and we were married the following year in February. It’s been a constant adventure ever since! We both graduated, and Zack is working as an engineer for a neighboring city so we’ve stayed local.
Zack is an introverted adventurer. He’s the first to suggest we try something new, and rarely orders the same thing twice at a restaurant. Zack is happiest with music – his guitar, singing, songwriting, and The Beatles are staples in his life and he loves to make people laugh.
Natalie is a creative social butterfly. She studied linguistics and is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), and loves to throw parties. In addition to playing hostess, she loves sewing, wood projects, watercoloring, upcycling thrift store finds, and decorating.
Together we’re big fans of the beach, card games, baking, and cozy blankets. We spend lots of time outside with Max; he would play fetch for hours if we let him!
We started the adoption process two years ago and it’s been quite the roller coaster! Adoption has always been in our plans, but our love for the adoption community has continually grown. It’s hard to explain the love we have for a baby we don’t know yet – and for their birth family – but we are so humbled at the thought of adding to our family and excited to become parents! We are pursuing a private domestic adoption at this time and relying on word of mouth and social media to connect with the right expectant mama.
Something important to us is seeing the world around us – both by visiting places in our own backyard and immersing ourselves in other cultures. We’ve tasted alligator in Florida, walked across Abbey Road in England, and experienced the culture of Japan. We drove out of our way just to be able to say we’ve been to Alabama, and we take detours to see picturesque tourist sites. We visit National Parks as often as we can and we will never say no to a day at the zoo. We’re annual Disneyland visitors, except for the year we went to Tokyo Disney instead. We love to be at the beach and we’ve touched the water of both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. We visit California often and every other year we camp with Zack’s family in in a National Park there. We love making family Halloween costumes and wear matching Christmas pajamas. Adventure is a big part of our lives and we can’t wait to share these adventures and make more memories together as our family grows.
We are confident in our ability to teach our children to love and respect others, to raise them in an educational and fun environment, and to help them understand that they have infinite worth. Most importantly, we want our children to know how much we and so many other people love them. Making sure our children know their story is important to us. We look forward to building a relationship with the birth family of our future child and we are so excited to be parents!
Our bows:
We both grew up in homes with instruments and musicals. Zack plays his guitar any chance he gets and our musical instrument toys are the first thing he pulls out when we have little ones visiting our house.
This was our wedding color. It was the color of Zack’s tie and one of the colors in Nat’s bouquet. It’s always been a favorite color of Natalie’s.
Natalie loves fresh flowers. It’s rare for us not to have some in our home. For Nat, flowers are a reminder to make the most of a situation – to bloom where you’re planted and face toward the light.
